The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that sent a Bristolville teen to the hospital.

Thomas Darno, 17, was tending to a disabled vehicle on state Route 45 in Bristol Township when he was hit by another vehicle, troopers said.

The accident happened at 8:07 p.m. Saturday on state Route 45, one mile north of state Route 88, and Darno was taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. From there, he was flown by helicopter to MetroHospital in Cleveland, where he remains in critical condition, a nursing supervisor said.

Police are searching for the driver of a car that overturned Sunday morning on Interstate 680.

According to reports, a silver Ford Taurus was traveling westbound on the Madison Avenue Expressway and took the Williamson exit to I-680 southbound when the driver lost control of the car, which crashed into a concrete wall, rolled onto its roof and came to a stop in the middle of the freeway.

A witness told police that a man fled the scene on foot after the accident occurred about 10:45 a.m. The traffic and investigation unit of Youngstown police is investigating.
