Soldier from Ohio dies in Afghanistan

WHEELERSBURG, Ohio

The Department of Defense says a Fort Hood soldier from Ohio has died in a noncombat incident in Afghanistan.

The government said Saturday that 32-year-old Cpl. Shawn Fannin of Wheelersburg died Friday in Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 404th Aviation Support Battalion, 4th Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Hood in Texas.

No further information was released.
