Thomas Steel to donate books for children

Representatives from Thomas Steel Strip Corp., a member of the Tata Steel Group of Companies, United Steel Workers Union Local 3523, the city of Warren and Warren schools will gather at Willard K-8 School on Tuesday to celebrate the distribution of 10,000 books to children throughout Ohio.

To kick off Thomas Steel’s donation, more than a dozen volunteers from Thomas Steel will participate in reading activities with Willard first- and second- graders and present each child with two new books to take home.

Founded in Warren in the 1920s, Thomas Steel Strip Corp. became part of the Tata Steel Group of Companies in 2007.

The donation highlights the commitment of Tata Steel Group to supporting education and promoting literacy, the company said in a press release.
