Triumph Consulting Services will host a sales workshop for business owners and salespeople Friday from 8 a.m. to noon at ITT Technical Institute, 1030 N. Meridian Road. The seminar will help attendees learn how to discern and prepare for buying objections, teach effective cold-calling techniques and provide tips on how to best use social media.

Trainer certification

NTENSE Workout and NETA, a nonprofit fitness professional association, will sponsor a two-day personal- trainer certification course at NTENSE Workout, 1300 Boardman-Poland Road, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 21 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop will cover communication skills, exercise programming and health assessments as well as demonstrations and practical application of one-on-one training and an exercise-science review.

Group gets $5K grant

The McDonald Community Chest, a nonprofit organization that issues food vouchers to local residents, was recently granted $5,000 from the Home Savings Charitable Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Youngstown’s Home Savings & Loan bank.

The McDonald Community Chest is also affiliated with the Trumbull County Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio, which will help fulfill the fiduciary responsibilities associated with grants and donations to the organization. The group also works with village officials, church organizations and school representatives to provide assistance in extreme emergency situations.

Farris Marketing was recently selected by John Krizay Inc. of Salem to create the company’s first website. John Krizay Inc., founded in 1969, supplies custom- fabricated fused quartz and alumina cores to the aerospace, defense, fiber-optics and power production industries. Farris created a new logo for the company and designed and provided content for its new website.
