Army 45, Kent State 28

Trent Steelman and Brian Cobbs each scored two of Army’s six rushing touchdowns and the Black Knights became bowl eligible. The Black Knights (6-4) have not played in a bowl since going 10-2 in 1996.

Army ran for 233 yards against the Golden Flashes (4-6), who came in allowing 69.4 yards rushing a game, best in the nation. The Black Knights have run for at least 225 in all 10 games. Steelman scored on runs of 2 and 3 yards and went 9 of 10 passing for a season-high 149 yards. Cobbs scored from 2 and 3 yards. Jared Hasin and Raymond Maples also scored TDs and Alex Carlton kicked a 49-yard field goal for Army. Kent State’s highlight was a 72-yard TD pass from Giorgio Morgan to Tyshon Goode. The Golden Flashes lost one fumble and threw three interceptions.

Western Michigan 45, Eastern Michigan 30

KALAMAZOO, Mich.

Alex Carder threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns Saturday as Western Michigan pulled away in the second half in a game that featured 1,009 yards of offense. Carder completed 17 of 21 passes and had scoring throws of 9, 20, 33 and 66 yards. Juan Nunez (4 catches, 110 yards) had two of those TD receptions while Jordan White (7-134) had one. Brian Fields added 107 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Broncos (4-6, 3-3 Mid American). Alex Gillett ran for 159 yards and passed for 214 for Eastern Michigan (1-9, 1-5) while accounting for four touchdowns — passes of 29, 40 and 32 yards and a 32-yard TD run. Eastern Michigan tied the game 24-24 on a Sean Graham field goal in the third quarter. But a 33-yard scoring pass from Carder to White and a 47-yard TD run by Fields pushed Western Michigan ahead for good.
