Family dinner to honor Fizets on anniversary

AUSTINTOWN

Family members will gather at Rachel’s Restaurant on Nov. 27 to honor Mr. and Mrs. Tom Fizet of Austintown as they celebrate 60 years of marriage.

Hosts for the event will be their children, Jean (Curt) Dieffenbaugher of Sterling Heights, Mich., Bill (Jacci) Fizet of Gilbert, Ariz., and Judy (Bruce) Williams of University Park, Wash. There are 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren in the family.

Another celebration will take place during the summer of 2011.

Honterus Lutheran Church in Youngstown was the setting Nov. 18, 1950, as the former Dorothy Roth and Mr. Fizet were united in marriage. The couple are members of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she is also a choir member.

Mrs. Fizet was a teachers aide with Austintown Local Schools before retiring in 1995. She is a member of Sweetbriar Garden Club, Friends of Austintown Library, Saxon Club Ladies Organization and the Red Hatters.

Mr. Fizet retired in 1992 as a finish carpenter with Alex, Downie and Sons Contractors in Youngstown. He served with the U.S. Army and is a member of the Men’s Boccie League, the Mixed Boccie League, and the Men’s Golf League at the Saxon Club, and is also a member of the Carpenter’s Local.
