An Ohio bank robber who authorities called the “Robin Hood bandit” because he gave some of the stolen cash to strangers has been sentenced to 21 years in federal prison.

FBI Special Agent Harry Trombitas said Friday that 49-year-old Myron Green was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Columbus. Authorities say Green robbed three banks and three businesses at gunpoint in April and May. They say he gave a woman and her daughter $100 each as he fled a bank robbery in May.

Green also was sentenced to five years of supervised release after his prison sentence and to pay restitution of about $24,000.
