“I love to color, Mom,” Sean Thompson, Jr., said repeatedly as he scribbled on his Halloween-themed coloring card.

“What’s not to love about a late-night pajama story time? The kids get to dress in their comfortable jammies, hear some great songs and stories, and go right home to bed. Fun!”

That was the sentiment of Austintown library librarian Kathe Orr during the Oct. 25 Pajamarama Story Time.

The 7 p.m. story time did provide some yawning from the little visitors, but the event was laid-back and full of useful literacy tips, fun games, and crafts.

Orr first played a sound game, about a man who heard spooky noises like stomp, swish, and clap clap. The children excitedly repeated the scary noises. Orr sang a soft, bedtime-ready Halloween song, before letting the children make monster hats and a giant paper candy corn.

As she watched her daughter, Amira, color happily, her mother, Antwanette Welch, reflected on her own long road to Pajamarama.

“It was so much trouble getting her in her nice pajamas,” eyeing Amira’s final outfit of a blue and pink shirt and pants. “But of course, by the time we left, she said she needed a matching headband to go with her outfit. I’m just excited she’s all ready for bed.”
