Canfield resident Cynthia Perantoni Anderson was the guest speaker for the Friends of Poland library’s monthly gathering Nov. 2. Anderson has been a docent for the Butler Institute of American Art since 2008. She gave a slide show presentation on women and their presence in American Art.
Anderson presented photos of art masterpieces ranging from the 1700s through the early 1900s. She talked about American artists such as Cecilia Beaux, Edwin Abbey, Charles Dana Gibson and Mary Cassatt. She urged members to visit the Butler Institute to see the paintings she talked about.
“It is such a treasure in this area,” she said. “The museum is free and holds some of America’s finest works.”
Though Anderson speaks regularly at schools and at the art museum, this was her first time speaking to the Friends of the Poland library.
The next gathering for the Friends will be Dec. 7 at 9:30 a.m. The Poland High School Madrigal Choir, under the direction of Bonnie Chronister, will perform musical selections for the group.
