Canfield debaters take second at first tournament

The Canfield High School Speech and Debate team finished second at the Edison Tournament Oct. 30, one point behind team champion Solon (104). There were 21 teams competing in the season-opening event.

Earning first-place finishes in their respective divisions for Canfield were Gretchen Scheel, International Exempt, and Tim Nesnidol, Humor. Second-place finishers were Andy Sun, United States Extemp; Mary Wirtz, Original Oratory; Chloe Gebacz, Impromptu and Nathan Pecchia and Rosie Jo Neddy, Duo.

Third-place finishers were Lauren Lewis, Original Oratory; Lydia Scheel, Drama; Adrian Slipski, United States Exempt; Kelly Fleming, International Extemp; Kaylee Kapalko, Impromptu and Andrik Massaro, Lincoln-Douglas Debate.
