Aviation instructor earns key designation

Scott Rowe, aviation maintenance instructor at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, has been named a Designated Mechanic Examiner by the Federal Aviation Administration.

With this distinction, Rowe will be able to test students for FAA airframe and power plant certification.

This new designation means that MCCTC students enrolled in the Aviation program will no longer have to travel to receive their testing for this certificate.

With the A&P Certification, students can go on to a career in the aviation industry and are certified to work on any piece of aviation equipment from hot air balloons to airplanes.

“The door is so wide open for students once they have their A&P Certificate,” Rowe said. “We’re very proud to have 100 percent career placement in students with their certificates.”

In addition to testing MCCTC students, Rowe is also able to test students from other schools who meet eligibility requirements.
