ALF cheerleaders claim league championships
The ALF 140-pound team cheerleaders won top honors in their division at the NEOYFL competition.
The 120-pound ALF cheerleaders took home trophies after winning the NEOYL cheerleading championship on Oct. 30.
The ALF 100-pound JV cheer squad placed third at the league's cheerleading competition at Chaney High School.
Spending most of their time on the sidelines, the Austintown Little Falcons cheerleaders yielded most of the spotlight this fall to the football teams.
But now that the season is over, the ALF squads had the opportunity to showcase their talents and compete against other squads from the Northeast Ohio Youth Football League. They emerged as league champions.
Two Austintown Little Falcons cheerleading squads walked away with trophies after winning their respective divisions at the 2010 Northeast Ohio Youth Football League cheer competition on Oct. 30.
The 120 and 140-pound varsity squads were named 2010 NEOYFL champions. The 100-pound varsity squad placed second and the 100-pound JV team finished third.
The teams competed against other squads within the league, including the Westside Patriots, Warren Little Raiders, Warren Little Panthers, Ohio Valley Crusaders and The Fighting Little Redmen.
The 100-pound varsity cheer squad is coached by Shannon Calhoun. Advisers include Angel Oswald, Patti Paolone and Kim Wasilewski. The JV team was coached by Veronica Dorbish and advised by Oswald, Paolone and Wasilewski.
Ebony Davis coached the 120-pound squad and was advised by Jennifer Bartley and Tammy Hockenberry. Julie Larkin was the 140-pound squad coach and Shannon Sandquist–Presley and Michelle Binion were the advisers.
