Trial ordered on attempted murder charge in Mich.
FLINT, Mich. (AP) — A man suspected in a three-state stabbing spree has been ordered to stand trial on an attempted murder charge in a late-night attack on a Michigan man who was walking home with a can of beer.
Richard Booker says he was stabbed by Elias Abuelazam on July 19 after stopping to help him open the hood of a Chevy Blazer.
Booker testified today that he fought off Abuelazam and made it to his home in Genesee Township, outside Flint.
A judge says there’s probable cause to send Abuelazam to trial. He faces a similar hearing today in the fatal stabbing of Frank Kellybrew.
Fourteen people were stabbed — five fatally — in the Flint area last summer. Abuelazam is charged with three counts of murder and five attempted murders in Michigan and an attempted murder in Ohio, and suspected in attacks in Virginia.
