A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Nov. 2
Assault: A Canfield man reported having been assaulted, but not injured, at Poland Seminary High School, 3199 Dobbins Road.
Nov. 3
Identity theft: A woman in the 2300 block of Stewart Road found $495 worth of unauthorized charges to her debit card.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle sustained damage in the 3400 block of Dobbins Road.
Identity theft: A Struthers Road man learned his Social Security number had been compromised.
Nov. 4
Theft: A $200 firearm was taken from a residence in the 2500 block of Shetland Lane.
Nov. 5
Burglary: Occurred in the 1900 block of Sylvan Lane. Stolen were an engagement ring, a wedding band and seven digital photographs.
Nov. 6
Burglary: To an apartment in the 2800 block of Center Road through the front door. A laptop computer and related accessories were missing.
Burglary: Police charged 29-year-old Anthony S. Petrony II, 1990 Mathews Road, Boardman, with burglary and criminal damaging after saying they saw Petrony leave a township apartment after a break-in.
Burglary: Assorted jewelry and a laptop computer were stolen from a residence in the 1900 block of Read Street that someone had entered through a rear window.
Nov. 7
Arrest: Authorities took 44-year-old Kathy L. Reese into custody at her residence, 7143 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, Poland, on a warrant from Struthers Municipal Court charging her with contempt of court.
Trespassing: A woman in the 4500 block of Dobbins Road told police a man knowingly trespassed onto her property.
Nov. 8
Identity theft: A Capri Court woman discovered $5,683 worth of unauthorized charges to two credit-card accounts.
Theft: Someone stole a $1,500 aluminum soccer goal from Poland Township Park off Moore Road.
BOARDMAN
Oct. 24
Theft: Police charged Joseph M. Betras of 1491 Barbie Drive, Boardman, and Drake M. Gray, 6207 Leffingwell Road, Canfield, both 18, with the theft of $110 worth of socks and undergarments from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall. Both were released on summonses.
Nov. 6
Domestic violence: John J. Palowitz Jr., 70, of 159 Afton Ave., Boardman, was charged with domestic violence and obstructing official business after his son alleged Palowitz had struck his chin as the accuser tried to protect another family member, then threatened him with a bread knife and bit his hand.
Assault/criminal damaging: A South Avenue man told police he had been punched near the right eye, and that the same person smashed several windows to his residence.
Theft: Someone removed $40 and other items from a vehicle in the 500 block of Oakridge Drive.
Recovered property: A 1998 Oldsmobile was found near Market Street and Midlothian Boulevard after a Cortland woman had reported it stolen.
Identity fraud: A Shields Road woman said a family member had used her personal information without permission to buy a car.
Auto theft: A 1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88 was stolen in the 4000 block of Glenwood Avenue.
Theft: A $100 sign was taken from a bathroom at Buffalo Wild Wings in the Southern Park Mall.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 200 block of Meadowbrook Avenue had paint damage.
Theft: Someone took $100 worth of clothing from a car in the 600 block of Forestridge Drive.
Theft: A taxi driver who picked up a man at a Market Street motel told police that, as payment for the $40 fare, the man provided a debit card that was declined and a check returned for insufficient funds.
Assault: A man reported an employee of a South Avenue business tackled, pushed and punched him several times in the face.
Nov. 7
Felonious assault: Christopher M. Cox, 21, of 4306 Chester Drive, Boardman, was charged after another man alleged Cox bit his hand, stabbed the accuser and struck him with a piece of metal furniture during an argument. He had numerous injuries.
Theft: Money was missing from a residence in the 5300 block of Lockwood Boulevard.
Theft: A $300 digital camera was removed from a home in the 30 block of Ferncliffe Avenue.
Theft/damage: An emergency light bar was stolen from a car that sustained roof damage at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant.
Menacing: The landlord of a Shields Road apartment complex told officers a man threatened twice to beat him up.
Theft: An undisclosed sum of money was missing from a safe at McDonald’s restaurant, 15 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Arrest: Police responding to an argument on Clifton Drive arrested 23-year-old Stephen L. Blanchard, 165 Clifton, on a warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on an assault charge.
Criminal damaging: A Prestwick Drive woman reported someone likely used a BB gun to fire six shots at her home and break several windows.
Nov. 8
Theft: Alexis G. Salgado, 27, of Ashtabula was charged with stealing five bottles of men’s cologne from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Twenty-seven Vindicator newspapers were stolen from a box near Prestwick Drive and Hillman Way.
Aggravated menacing: A Tippecanoe Road woman said her former boyfriend threatened to slit her throat and made other threats of bodily harm.
Theft: Several pieces of jewelry were missing from a home in the 5300 block of Lockwood Boulevard.
Breaking and entering/vehicle theft: A 1998 Chevrolet van was stolen from a residence in the 800 block of Mulberry Lane that someone had entered. Numerous tools and other merchandise were missing.
Possible theft: A Boardman Boulevard woman reported her account was billed twice for a single donation she had made.
Counterfeit: A fake $20 bill was passed at Sbarro The Italian Eatery in the Southern Park Mall.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 5000 block of Firnley Avenue, from which eight Sony PlayStation2 games were stolen.
Assault: A woman alleged her former boyfriend struck her face as she drove near Southern Boulevard and Indianola Road.
Misuse of a credit card: A Romaine Avenue woman found a $100 unauthorized charge to her credit card.
Theft: A manager of New York Music, 7144 Market St., accused a worker of causing the business to be $100 short.
Criminal mischief: A West Boulevard woman told police she saw someone let the air out of a tire on her vehicle.
Theft: Johnathan L. Robles, 19, of 682 Magnolia St., Youngstown, was charged with stealing $61.55 worth of personal items from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.
Nov. 9
Theft: Mildred A. Epps, 39, of 3725 Elbertus Ave., Youngstown, was accused in the theft of two pairs of shoes from Payless Shoesource, 48 Boardman-Poland Road. Epps also was wanted on a felony charge of passing bad checks.
Menacing: A Havenwood Drive woman told authorities she found out that a relative wanted to harm her.
Auto theft: A 1995 Hyundai Accent was stolen in the 6200 block of Market Street.
Drug abuse: A traffic stop in the 7200 block of South Avenue resulted in the arrest of 42-year-old Nicholas W. Hetmanski, 1805 E. Western Reserve Road, Boardman, on charges of drug possession and operating a vehicle impaired. Several pills, including two vials of a drug used only in hospitals, were found, a report said.
Theft: Two birth certificates and two Social Security cards were taken from an apartment in the 4000 block of South Schenley Avenue.
Criminal damaging: A Lemans Drive woman said an irate neighbor kicked and damaged the accuser’s apartment door.
Harassment: A Forest Garden Drive woman reported getting a series of unwanted calls.
Burglary: To a vacant Overhill Road residence through a side door. Cooper pipes were missing.
Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Clifton Drive via the front door. A 52-inch flat-screen TV, a laptop computer, a Wii game system and related parts were stolen, for a $2,300 loss.
Theft: A checkbook and U.S. Savings bonds were removed from a lockbox at a Cascade Drive home.
