Felled tree blocks tracks; train blocks crossings

COLUMBIANA

Drivers will have to find alternate routes in the city after a train hit a downed tree at 10:12 a.m. today.

The train is blocking the railroad crossings at Pittsburgh Street; South Elm Street, which is also called Fairfield Street; and South Main Street.

A police department dispatcher said that a man had hired two men to cut down a tree in his back yard. The tree fell on the tracks.

The dispatcher tried to warn the train but it did not stop in time. There were no injuries.

The train will be in place until a new engine arrives to remove the damaged engine.
