Pittsburgh tot’s stolen wheelchair returned

PITTSBURGH (AP) — A custom wheelchair for a 3-year-old Pittsburgh boy has been returned after it was stolen last week.

Police say the $4,000 wheelchair was returned to the boy’s mother, Candi Carter-Olsen, early this morning. Authorities say it was handed over by a woman who had bought it not knowing it was stolen.

Carter-Olsen says her son, Gabriel, has cerebral palsy and needs the wheelchair to eat and breathe properly. She says the wheelchair disappeared from the family’s van last week.

Police are investigating the theft.
