CHAMPION
The Youngstown Magic Club’s annual Night of Comedy and Magic will be Saturday at the Kent State University Trumbull Campus main building.
Featured performers are comedy-magician Geoff Williams and ventriloquist Ken Groves. Strolling magicians will perform magic acts before the stage show.
Williams is a full-time entertainer best-known for cutting-edge sleight-of-hand illusions mixed with an offbeat sense of humor. His 45- to 60-minute show includes illusions and stunts, from shooting a signed card out of the air with a dart gun to swallowing an inflated balloon whole.
Williams has been voted Magician of the Year in Minnesota three times by the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He also has won top awards at the annual Houdini Magic Convention.
Groves has been an entertainer since 1985 and has appeared on several television shows, including “Arsenio Hall,” “After Hours,” “Live at the Funny Farm” and “The Statler Brothers Show.”
He has performed with Jerry Van Dyke, Rip Taylor, Mary Wilson & The Supremes and The Crystals.
