Man's talk of demons, killers OK at Pa. trial
UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) — A judge in western Pennsylvania says a murder suspect’s talk about demons and the serial killer Son of Sam will be allowed at his upcoming trial.
Henry Earley, of Bitner, is charged with beating and stabbing his live-in girlfriend to death in February shortly after he was released from jail for threatening a bartender.
At the time, he told police that demons made him do it and talked about the 1970s New York serial killer, Son of Sam.
Earley was in court Wednesday, where his lawyer argued that those comments shouldn’t be admitted at his trial. A judge ruled that the comments that police say were made spontaneously would be admissable.
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Earley’s lawyer may present a mental-infirmity defense at trial.
