Lawrence officials OK renovation plan
Staff report
NEW CASTLE, Pa.
Lawrence County commissioners will borrow $400,000 to renovate the Albert P. Gettings Memorial Annex next to the Lawrence County Courthouse.
Commissioners bought the building, the former Second Presbyterian Church, last year to use for county office space.
Commissioners agreed to borrow the money from ESB Bank at 4.1 percent for 15 years. The loan will be repaid with monthly rent receipts the county will collect from the Lawrence County Mental Health/Mental Retardation office and from Value Options, the county’s managed care provider, both of which will move into the building once renovations are finished.
At their Tuesday meeting, commissioners also approved paying $39,275 to Wolf Creek Holding Co., Grove City, the low bidder of four for installation of a 600-foot stone aggregate surface on the northern access road at West Park. The road will extend to the observation deck. The park is on Old Youngstown Road, Union Township.
Technician Becka Naber of the county’s conservation district office said work should start next week and take about a week to complete.
