Mrs. Maude Buzard Leedy, 79, writer of the Vindicator‘s Years Ago column and widow of Charles A. Leedy, beloved Vindicator humor columnist and theater critic, dies in North Side Hospital.
Metropolitan Savings & Loan Co. opens its first branch office, at 39 W. Liberty Street in Hubbard.

1935: Youngstown city police officers say they will not do extra duty at future high school football games after unruly youths throw stones at the officers during the South-Newton Falls game at South High Stadium. Two youths are arrested.
The 16th annual Poppy Sale by the American Legion Post 15 raises about $1,100 in Youngstown. About 20,000 poppies are sold at an average of 51/2 cents.
Dr. William H. Hudnut, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, undergoes an operation at North Side unit of Youngstown Hospital and is reported in good condition.
