POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

Nov. 5

Theft: A Mosier Road man reported the theft of a 24-inch mountain bike.

Theft: A 4-foot stainless-steel utility sink was stolen from a pavilion in a park off U.S. Route 422.

Drugs: Police responded to possible drug activity in the 500 block of Park Avenue, where they issued summonses to 18-year-old Casey Kountz of Struthers and John L. Killen, 27, of 506 Park, charging each with drug abuse.

Nov. 6

Menacing: An East Broadway Avenue woman said her former husband has been making and sending unwanted calls and text messages.

Theft: A Townsend Avenue woman reported a $125 firearm missing from a bedroom.

Nov. 7

Menacing: A Patricia Drive woman told police her former boyfriend made threats.

Nov. 8

Theft: Two males stole a stereo faceplate and a vehicle title from a car in the 400 block of East Prospect Street.

HUBBARD

Nov. 2

Menacing: A Hillview Drive man reported juveniles harassed his grandson, including threatening to beat him up.

Nov. 3

Drugs: Police took custody of 34-year-old Elliot Barwinski, 528 Meadowland Drive, Hubbard, who was wanted on several drug- related charges.

Vandalism: Vehicle damage was reported in the 200 block of Jacobs Road.

Nov. 4

Criminal mischief: A glass table top was shattered at a home in the 900 block of West Liberty Street.

Nov. 5

Theft: A woman reported the theft of a change purse at a West Liberty Street business.

Arrest: Girard authorities handed Shana M. Fleming, 30, of 596 Stull Ave., Girard, to Hubbard police. Fleming was wanted on a contempt-of-court charge.

Nov. 7

Domestic violence: Police charged 54-year-old Thomas McFarland, 518 Dorchester Drive, Hubbard, with the crime after McFarland’s wife alleged he had threatened to shoot her and others at the residence. Authorities confiscated three firearms, a report said.

LIBERTY

Nov. 2

Harassment: A Holly Drive woman said another woman has sent the accuser several such text messages.

Theft: A 16-year-old Youngstown girl was charged with stealing a car cell-phone charger and other items from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. Another city girl, 17, was cited for having no operator’s license.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Church Hill Road led to the arrest of 36-year-old Gerald W. Kay, 2756 Ridge Road, Cortland, after police said a suspected crack pipe was found. Kay also faced several traffic charges.

Theft: An elderly Norwick Drive woman reported copper down spouting stolen from the rear of her home. She also found spouting in her backyard.

Nov. 3

Theft/weapon: Officers responded to a shoplifting situation at Walmart, where they charged 40-year-old Odell Oakley II, 241 E. Boston Ave., Youngstown, with theft, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. A suspected crack pipe and a pocketknife were found, a report showed.

Recovered property: A worker for a Belmont Avenue fast-food restaurant found a bag containing blank checks, money and other personal property.

Burglary: To a residence in the 600 block of Aurora Drive through a rear window. Around $6,700 worth of jewelry was stolen.

Nov. 5

Arrest: Officers responded to a suspicious person at a North Gate Road apartment complex before charging 27-year-old Michael J. Stevenson, 52 N. Portland Ave., Youngstown, with criminal trespassing, possession of criminal tools and attempted theft. At least two wires had been cut from a cable box, though police were unable to determine if Stevenson intended to steal the box, a report said.

Nov. 6

Possible assault: Police conducted a welfare check at a Tuttle Lane home, where a teen alleged her stepfather had assaulted her.

Nov. 7

Criminal damaging: A man in the 100 block of Warner Road discovered someone had poured a gallon of paint into his hot tub, causing an estimated $4,000 in damage.

Criminal damaging: A woman reported someone had struck and damaged her Jeep Wrangler in the 5000 block of Fifth Avenue.
