Austintown native Col. Lisa Doumont, of the 256th Combat Support Hospital in Twinsburg, grew up with the Army in her blood. Now, her three sons are following the same career path.
Family military history
Lisa Doumont: Joined the Army in 1988 and is serving in the Army Reserve out of the 256th Combat Support Hospital in Twinsburg. She was recently promoted from lieutenant colonel to colonel and is preparing to be deployed to Iraq with her unit.
Robert Ward: Doumont’s father was a sergeant in the Army 895th Signal Corps attached to the 9th Air Force from 1942 to 1945.
Ralph Johnson: Doumont’s uncle was a corporal in the Army Signal Corps from 1942 to 1945 as a radar specialist in Northern Africa.
Warren Johnson: Doumont’s uncle was drafted in April 1945 two months before graduation from South High School. He served in the Army from 1945 to 1947 and spent most of his time in Alaska.
Joseph Doumont Jr.: Doumont’s husband served from 1983 to 1989 in the Navy.
Patrick Doumont: Doumont’s son, 20, is a student at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York.
Nicholas Doumont: Doumont’s son, 20, attends the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Andrew Doumont: Doumont’s son, 17, will attend either the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland or West Point after high school graduation in spring 2011.
