Volant shops plan Christmas special Saturday, Sunday


VOLANT, Pa.

Volant Shops will ring in the holiday season with “Christmas on Main Street” Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, merchants will have extended store hours set from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Sunday, shops will be open from noon to 5 p.m.

The event will begin with a Breakfast with Santa at 9 a.m. Saturday. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (724) 533-2233.

Santa will arrive a 1 p.m. in a horse-drawn carriage.

Entertainment throughout the day will include face painting at the Blue Heron Art Gallery from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and musical performances by strolling dulcimer player Carol Rak from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., The Lawrence County Brass from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and Butler’s Strolling Barbershop Singers from 2 to 4 p.m.

There will also be horse-drawn carriage rides by reservation only, every 15 minutes from 1:45 to 5:30. Cost is $15 per load or four to five people and slots are limited. To reserve, call (724) 533-5054.

Amish vendors will also sell donuts, baked goods, quilts and rugs all day.

On Sunday, strolling Minstrel Dan Hulse will perform from noon to 5 p.m. and Allysa Passavento, will play the harp in the lobby of The Depot. Shops will be open from noon to 5 p.m.
