SENIOR CITIZENS | Meetings, activities announced
AARP 4339, Austintown Chapter, will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church, 162 Raccoon Road. Blood pressure screenings and flu shots will be available at 12:30 p.m. Members of AARP will present the program. Tickets will be on sale for the Christmas party at the Saxon Club. Items for a nursing home will be collected in November and December. Membership dues will be collected. Guests and new members are welcome.
Girard Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the center, 16 N. State St. November birthdays and wedding anniversaries will be acknowledged, there will be a pizza party at a cost of $2, and bingo will be played. Collections are being taken of the following: canned fruit, $15 for the Christmas party, and $7 for 2011 membership dues.
After 11 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Golden Pillars will meet at noon Tuesday at the Assumption Social Center, 356 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. Eleanor Hnat will preside. Lunch will be served and members are reminded to take their own place settings. Bingo and cards will be played.
J.C. Penney retirees will meet at noon Tuesday at Denny’s in Boardman.
Martha Lupse 50-Plus Card and Game Club will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 106 at Poland United Methodist Church. Bridge, 500, chess and checkers will be played, and Ruby Farkas will give the devotions. Members are reminded to take a sack lunch; coffee and tea will be provided. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Seniors will meet Wednesday following the noon Mass. John Mascardine will preside, and reports will be given by Clara Pascale and Ann Leone. Police & Fire Retirees of Ohio, District 2, Chapter 10 (Mahoning and Columbiana Counties) will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at Brandywine Clubhouse, 3390 Flo-Lor Drive, Youngstown. All retirees and DROP participants of the Ohio Police and Fire Disability and Pension Fund living in Mahoning and Columbiana counties, along with their spouses or survivors, are welcome. St. Christine Seniors will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the parish center, with Ruth Infante presiding. This is the last meeting to make reservations for the Dec. 8 Christmas party at the Croatian Home. The cost is $8.
