Oct. 3

Arrest: Police picked up 23-year-old Kevin D. Cartwright, 110 High St., Canfield, in the 4100 block of Southern Boulevard. He was charged with failure to appear in court.

Identity fraud: A Locust Avenue man noticed his debit-card number had been used without consent to make several purchases, likely online. He was later reimbursed.

Criminal mischief: Someone used chalk to write on a vehicle in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Harassment: An Arden Boulevard woman told police she received at least 10 threatening and harassing calls.

Oct. 4

Theft: Four firearms and numerous other items were stolen from a bedroom closet in the 800 block of Glen Park Road.

Breaking and entering: Someone used a key to enter a vacant Gertrude Avenue home and remove about 220 feet of copper piping.

Theft: A stereo was taken from a car at a Market Street business.

Theft: A West Boulevard man discovered more than $4,300 missing from his checking account.

Theft by deception: An installer of glass block provided a credit-card number before adding $550 worth of the glass to a Wildwood Drive residence. The number, however, was rejected as being nonexistent.

Theft: Amanda Pirlozzi, 21, of 1409 Hawn St., Youngstown, was charged in the theft of six DVDs from Walmart.

Identity theft: A Huntington Court man found out someone had used his name and date of birth to fill out a credit-card application.

Oct. 5

Arrest: Vincent R. Thomas Jr., 23, no address listed, was charged with violating a protection order after a family member told police Thomas came to her Paulin Drive residence in violation of the order. He also was wanted on a warrant from Campbell charging him with violating a court order.

Oct. 7

Theft: Mallory E. Hanley, 24, of 2023 Everett Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony charge, accused of stealing 23 pairs of earrings from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 1200 block of East Western Reserve Road and took parts to a race car.

Menacing: A Trenholm Road woman said her former boyfriend has sent roughly 30 unwanted and threatening text messages.

Theft: A 17-year-old Oakdale, Pa., girl was charged with stealing two pairs of women’s jeans from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A teacher with Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., reported a cell phone stolen from her desk.

Criminal damaging: Two dents were found on a vehicle’s driver’s-side door in the 400 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.

Burglary: To a garage in the 7600 block of Red Fox Drive. Missing were $80 and a purse.

Oct. 8

Arrest: Authorities went to Liberty Township, where they arrested Charles Queener, no age given, 3244 Orrin Ave., Youngstown, after learning he was wanted on a probation-violation charge. Queener also was charged with assault on a police officer when, a report said, he kicked an officer during the arrest.

Drug paraphernalia: Police responding to a disturbance charged 23-year-old Joshua A. Chaibi, 6300 South Ave., Boardman, with possession of drug paraphernalia when, they said, a suspected marijuana pipe was found.

Theft: Joshua B. Flores, 20, of 28 Crescent St., Struthers, was charged in the theft of a coat from Walmart.

Stolen property: A Girard man discovered a personal check written for $157 was cashed without consent at a Market Street bank.

Theft: A New Jersey woman’s wallet was stolen at a McClurg Road business.

Robbery: A woman age 18 or 19 jumped on the back of an employee who confronted her after the theft of two pairs of pants from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd., then fled.

Menacing: A woman said that two people tried to entice her son to fight them at the Southern Park Mall.

Oct. 9

Threats: Alvin S. Katz, 49, of 7505 Jaguar Drive, Boardman, was charged with making domestic-violence threats after his wife alleged that an enraged Katz had threatened to kill her and a friend.

Theft: Several men left Steak ‘n’ Shake, 6786 Applewood Blvd., without paying $27 of a food bill.

Theft: Toothbrushes and deodorant were stolen from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant home in the 50 block of Clifton Drive and removed copper piping from the basement.

Arrest: Jasmine Molina, 27, of 3540 LaSalle Ave., Boardman, was taken into custody on a probation-violation charge.

Assault/weapon: Officers responding to a theft at Dollar General, 271 Boardman-Canfield Road, charged 37-year-old Leon Reynolds, 4884 Westchester Drive, Austintown, with two counts of assaulting a police officer and one each of carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest and obstructing official business. Reynolds, who had a folding knife, struggled with police, spit on an officer and refused to provide proper identification, a report said.

Theft: A Boardman High School student noticed her purse missing.

Attempted robbery: An employee of Deals Nothing Over a Dollar, 225 Boardman-Canfield Road, told police that as she walked to her vehicle, a man in his 50s approached and demanded a bag that the accuser said was still in the store. The man fled on foot and she was not harmed.

Oct. 10

Assault: Authorities picked up 57-year-old Linda M. Swartzen at her residence, 7450 West Blvd., Boardman, on a warrant from Struthers, charging her.

Arrest: Police arrested 40-year-old William Johnstone Jr., 6300 South Ave., at his home. Johnstone was wanted by Struthers authorities on a probation-violation count.

Theft: A pressure washer and a hose were stolen off a truck in the 50 block of Melrose Avenue.

Theft: Two drills were stolen from Home Depot, 7001 Southern Blvd.

Oct. 10

Criminal mischief: A car in the 900 block of Moyer Avenue was entered and tampered with.

Aggravated menacing: An employee of Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road, told authorities a man followed and threatened her with a knife.

Theft: A woman’s wallet was stolen at a Doral Drive store.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 100 block of Stadium Drive, from which $110 and a cell phone were stolen.

Oct. 11

Criminal mischief: Someone broke a window to a business in the 7200 block of Market Street.

Theft: Seventy-five compact discs, a CD case, an in-dash stereo and a car charger were stolen from a vehicle in the 7100 block of Trenholm Road.

Theft/vandalism: Someone broke a pole and took a glass-light globe from it at a South Avenue barber shop.

Theft: A man in his 50s stole three Bluetooth headsets from AT&T, 650 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Criminal damaging: An obscenity was spray-painted on the side of a garage in the 200 block of Meadowbrook Avenue.

Theft: A woman in her 20s took six cosmetics items from Walmart.

Theft: A DVD player, a DVD and a global positioning system unit were taken from vehicles in the 40 block of Buena Vista Avenue.

Theft: A Macy’s employee discovered 118 articles of clothing missing from a display rack. The loss was estimated at $10,283.

Harassment: A Trenholm Road woman reported getting several unwanted calls.

Attempted auto theft: An Auburn Hills Drive woman told police someone had tried to steal her 1997 Oldsmobile Delta 88.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 300 block of Mathews Road had its front windshield smashed.

Harassment: A Glenwood Avenue man reported getting a series of unwanted cell-phone calls.

Theft: Robert E. Hallas, 27, of 7377 Sierra Madre Trail, Boardman, was charged after a neighbor alleged Hallas had taken a $50 metal campfire saucer base without consent.

Arrest: Police charged 31-year-old Rayonna L. Henderson, 4001 S. Schenley Ave., Boardman, with menacing and obstructing official business after the landlord of a nearby apartment complex reported Henderson had threatened to harm her. Henderson also refused to provide officers with her information, a report said.

Theft: A $125 python was stolen from Harbor Pet Center, 7338 Market St.

Criminal damaging: Three landscaping lights sustained damage at an apartment complex in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

Oct. 16

Assault: A traffic stop in the 700 block of Boardman-Poland Road resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old Angel L. Ramos, 279 E. Lucius Ave., Youngstown, on a misdemeanor assault charge.

Assault: A man in the 40 block of Melrose Avenue suffered a bloody nose after alleging his mother’s boyfriend had punched him several times.

Theft: A couple left Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 6691 South Ave., without paying a $27 food bill.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Lumber Liquidators Inc., 7661 South Ave., and removed a cash box with an undisclosed amount of money.

Identity theft: A Green Bay Drive man found two unauthorized transactions totaling $121 to his debit card.

Theft: A Youngstown woman at a Market Street business discovered about $370 missing from her purse.

Theft: A woman in her 20s stole five articles of clothing from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman- Canfield Road, and fled.

Theft: A $400 satellite radio was taken from a vehicle in the 30 block of Midwood Circle.

Harassment: A West Boulevard woman said her husband threatened to break into her apartment and change the locks.

Theft: A man in his 20s fled after stealing a cash box from Walgreens Pharmacy, 7295 Market St.

Theft: Lindy M. Wilcox, 38, of 7400 West Blvd., Boardman, was charged with stealing a package of bacon, a can of beer, a magazine and a book from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: Police booked 40-year-old James M. Sellers, 321 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown, who was accused of stealing a backpack, clothing and other merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Sellers also was wanted on warrants charging him with three counts of theft and one of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Oct. 17

Breaking and entering: Someone smashed a front window and entered Edible Arrangements, 505 Boardman- Canfield Road. Missing was an undisclosed sum of money.

Theft: Authorities charged 19-year-old JronC. Ferrell, 1642 Bancroft Ave., Youngstown, after saying Ferrell, an employee of T.J. Maxx, 717 Boardman-Poland Road, admitted having stolen money from the business on three occasions.

Possible theft: A township woman reported her wallet lost or stolen at a Doral Drive store.

Attempted breaking and entering: Police found a shattered window at Uptown Pizza, 4605 Market St., though no entry had been made.

Theft: A pair of sunglasses and change were removed from several vehicles in the 7000 block of Paxton Road.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 5000 block of Firnley Avenue after the front door was forced open. Two laptop computers, a TV and a Sony PlayStation 2 system were stolen.

Harassment: A Paxton Road man reported getting several unwanted calls.

Oct. 18

Criminal damaging: All of a vehicle’s tires were slashed in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Theft: A man in his 40s fled after having stolen batteries and containers from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into Subway, 5052 Youngstown-Poland Road, and took a cash drawer.

Attempted burglary: A screen was cut and a window was broken after someone tried to enter a home in the 4000 block of South Avenue.

Theft: A $150 cell phone was stolen from a residence in the 40 block of Melrose Avenue.

Attempted auto theft: A 1999 Honda vehicle at Four Wheels Auto, 5925 South Ave., was found with a smashed passenger-side window and a damaged steering column.

Theft: A woman age 25 to 30 stole 20 clothing items and video games from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Oct. 23

Stolen property: William L. Chislom, 29, of 114 Saranac Ave., Youngstown, faced a felony count of receiving stolen property after police conducted vehicle checks on Doral Drive and determined the 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo that Chislom was in had been stolen in Canton during a carjacking incident.

Theft: Austintown authorities handed to Boardman police 42-year-old Sam V. Cianciola Jr., 521 Western Place, Austintown, who was wanted on a felony charge. His father, of Boardman, alleged Cianciola stole and pawned an $18,000 gold wristwatch.

Arson: Police assisted township firefighters with a fire in a trash bin in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle.

Theft: A woman stole $90 worth of groceries from Rulli Bros., 8025 South Ave.

Theft: A woman stole a $50 wig from The Hair Depot, 4026 Market St.

Fraud: A Quail Court man discovered $690 of unauthorized transactions had been made from his bank account.

Identity theft: A Market Street woman found out her address had been changed on her credit report without her knowledge.

Theft: A man reported the theft of Vicodin and other medications from his mother’s Afton Avenue home.

Counterfeit: A phony $50 bill was passed at Springfield Grille, 7413 Tiffany Blvd.

Theft: Meaghan M. Ritter, 20, of 2231 Clyde St., Poland, was charged with stealing a pair of boots from Sears in the Southern Park Mall. She also was wanted on a warrant.

Domestic violence: Matthew J. Campbell, 27, of 7410 West Blvd., was charged with domestic violence, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Campbell, who police said refused to cooperate during their investigation, was accused of spitting on and making threats against his wife.

Theft: Three women’s blouses were stolen from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, resulting in a charge against 33-year-old Danielle L. Walters, 1145 E. Park Ave., Columbiana.

Domestic violence: Shannon N. Porter, 26, of 41 Sciota Ave., Boardman, was charged with the crime after her husband alleged Porter had struck him 20 to 25 times in the face and head during an argument related to text messages she had received.

Theft: Two Austintown girls, 15 and 16, were accused in the theft of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Oct. 24

Domestic violence: The Ohio State Highway Patrol handed 36-year-old Dominic M. Gaudio, 29 Stanton Ave., Boardman, to township authorities. Gaudio’s wife alleged he had grabbed her hair, dragged her across the floor and pressed his thumb against her throat during an argument.

Domestic violence: Marcus R. Huffman, 25, of 7440 Oregon Trail, Boardman, was charged after Huffman’s wife alleged that during an argument, he had struck her.

Attempted fraud: An Indianola Road woman selling skin-care products told police she received a $3,000 cashiers check from someone claiming to live in North Carolina and that she believed the check was counterfeit.

Theft: A man stole a $40 electric razor and a nail clipper from Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd. Stolen property: Police responding to a possible domestic situation in the 6900 block of Glenwood Avenue saw at the residence a street sign suspected to have been stolen.

Harassment: An employee of a Market Street business reported someone had been continually calling and yelling obscenities.

Theft: Antonia M. Skillas, 30, of 201 Reed Ave., Campbell, was charged, accused of stealing makeup from Walmart. She was released on a summons.

Oct. 25

Theft: A worker for a Market Street business discovered someone had removed the catalytic converter from a work van.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered the garage of an empty building in the 6100 block of Southern Boulevard and damaged a locking hasp.

Burglary: Took place in the 700 block of Maple Avenue. Stolen from the garage was a $600 chain saw.

Theft: Megan A. Beverly, 20, of 610 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon, was charged in the theft of clothing and jewelry from Macy’s.

Forgery: Dandre L. Damous, 21, of 61 E. Auburndale Ave., Youngstown, faced felony charges of forgery and receiving stolen property after being accused of trying to cash a stolen check at Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A 16-year-old city girl was charged with stealing four purses from Sears.

Robbery: Police charged 35-year-old Michael P. Higgins, 2450 Stagecoach Road, East Liverpool, with robbery after a theft at Macy’s. Higgins struggled with a store employee who tried to detain him, a report said.

Threats: Daniel Morales Jr., 28, of 215 Steel St., Youngstown, was picked up on a township warrant charging him with making domestic-violence threats.

Theft: A woman reported her purse stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant.

Criminal damaging: Scratches were found on a vehicle’s hood and bumper in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle.

Theft: A man reported the theft of a set of truck keys while at a Boardman-Canfield Road eatery.

Theft: A man reported his wallet stolen at a Southern Boulevard store.

Identity theft: A Brookfield Avenue man found out his personal information had been used without consent to make two purchases.

Identity theft: A Centervale Avenue woman discovered $500 missing from her bank account, apparently after someone had obtained her personal information.

Identity fraud: A Ridgefield Avenue woman realized someone claiming to be the accuser had a utility placed in her name without authorization.

Theft: An official with Home Savings and Loan, 4005 Hillman Way, told police that a teller mistakenly gave a customer twice the amount of a withdrawal and that the customer refused to rectify the error.

Theft: A man in his mid-30s stole a pair of men’s pants from The Hair Depot.

Theft: A Glenwood Avenue woman reported her debit card stolen while at work.
