Tickets are now on sale for Top Hat Productions’ season opener “Nunsense,” which will run two weekends, Nov. 11-14 and 18-21, at Fairview Arts and Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road.
Top Hat is featuring “dessert-theater” for this production, with the cost of dessert included in the admission price. Also offered are “church days,” in which religious groups get a $3 rebate per ticket on group ticket sales, with the rebate to be used toward any project or programming of the group’s choosing.
“Nunsense,” by playwright Dan Goggin, opened off-Broadway in 1985. The concept began as a line of greeting cards, developed into a cabaret, and then became a full-length musical that has been translated into 21 languages. It is the second-longest running off-Broadway musical in history.
The comedy begins when the little sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters. They are now in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide the best way to raise money is to put on a variety show and take over the school auditorium, which is set up for the eighth-grade production of “Grease.”
The cast includes Geri DeWitt, Donna Huntley, Julie Palumbo, Brandy Johanntges and Terri A. Wilkes.
