Double time for tricks and treats
Double time for tricks and treats
We love Halloween. Imag- ine our surprise, once again, to find that Springfield Township and New Middletown had different Trick or Treat hours. Not only different hours but this time different days. We live on the the border of the village and the township. So Saturday evening during dinner the trick or treaters started to arrive. We were startled and immediately apologized for not being ready. We tried to quickly assemble our treats and hand them out to the patient little costumed children. (The township’s hours for trick or treating were Sunday.)
Why can’t the trustees of Springfield Township and the council of New Middletown Village get along? Do they know that the village lies within the township? If they can’t get along with each other, will they do it for the kids? Can they make the hours for Trick or Treating on the same day and at the same time next year and for each year after that? If the answer to these questions is no, can they please explain to me and the rest of my neighbors why it must be this way.
We realize they don’t want to share services as we have heard and read about the ongoing disagreement between them regarding the fire fighting departments. I still can’t understand why we can’t share resources for the best of the communities and for the best use of taxpayers money. But this comes down to two hours a year. Shame on both communities for not working together. I must say that in moments like these I really feel like our elected leaders are acting childish and immature.
