Resident finds 2 cats, one alive and one dead, in bag

Staff report

BOARDMAN

Humane agents were called to an Aylesboro Avenue home when the owner reported finding a bag with two cats — one of them dead — Monday afternoon.

The resident told police he noticed a cat-litter box with a top on it on his front porch when he was leaving for work. Reports state the man came home an hour later to check on the enclosed litter box and saw a trash bag in the bushes next to the box.

When he opened the bag, one cat was alive, and the other was dead, police said.

Humane agent Kyle Zeigler took both cats and the supplies. No note or identifying characteristics to the cats or property were found, police said.

The calico cat, now called Gabby by the staff at Animal Charity, cleared all medical tests and is scheduled to be spayed, Zeigler said.

Gabby will be available for adoption Thursday at Animal Charity, 4140 Market St.
