JFK boys soccer team advances with 1-0 win

Alex Kovalik scored the only goal of the game in the first half, on an assist by Pat Hull, as the Warren JFK boys soccer team defeated Columbia Station, 1-0, in a Division III boys regional soccer game on Tuesday night.

Michael Fredericka, the JFK goalie, had seven saves. The Eagles (12-5-3) advanced to Saturday’s regional final against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy. That game, at 3 p.m., will be played at Ravenna Stadium.

CVCA defeated Hawken, 1-0, in Tuesday’s other semifinal.

Columbia Station (14-4-2), got seven saves from goalie Scot Bartko.
