“America’s Got Talent” (8 p.m., NBC): Did “American Idol” put you to sleep this season? Here’s your wake-up call. The talent show where anything goes returns for its fifth season, and you never know what you’ll see: Singers, dancers, jugglers, magicians, rappin’ grandmas ... they’ve got it all. You’ll also see a new face on the judges table, where Howie Mandel replaces David Hasselhoff. The summer series kicks off with open auditions in Los Angeles. Nick Cannon hosts.

“Wipeout” (8 p.m., ABC): Is it so wrong to enjoy watching someone do a face plant on national TV? We think not. That’s why we’re stoked for the return of the human splat fest known as “Wipeout.” New events include Bruiseball and Love Handles Fling Set.

Immaculate Heart prepares for festival

AUSTINTOWN

Immaculate Heart of Mary, 4490 Norquest Blvd., will have its 27th annual festival June 9-13 on the church grounds and will feature amusement rides. Hours are 6-11 p.m. Wednesday and 6 p.m. to midnight Thursday through Sunday.

Games, a rummage sale and Chinese auction will be featured. There also will be nightly music, with the Pastimes on Friday and Sunday and the Eddie Valluys band Saturday.

There will be a free Children’s Fun Run and a 5K race at 7 p.m. Thursday. Early entry fee is $13 ($15 day of event); go to freewebs.com/ihmfestival5k.

Weightlifting contests will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Parish Hall. The strongman contest will be at 5 p.m. with the weigh-in from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Other Sunday highlights include a polka Mass at 5 p.m. and a fireworks display at 10:30 p.m.

2 new programs at Maltz Museum

BEACHWOOD

The Maltz Museum, 2929 Richmond Road, is presenting two programs in conjunction with its current exhibition, “Women & Spirit: Catholic Sisters in America.” Call 216-593-0575.

The first is the film “Praying in Her Own Voice,” at 7 p.m. June 9. It documents the struggle of the Women at the Wailing Wall movement. Women are not allowed to gather and pray at this holy site.

Next up will be “A Question of Habit: The Curious Image of Nuns in Popular Culture,” at 7 p.m. June 23. Bren Ortega Murphy, a professor at Loyola University, Chicago, will examine the visual images of Catholic nuns and sisters in contemporary U.S. culture.
