Father, daughter ambushed; he’s killed

A man has been fatally shot by a masked gunman in a Dayton neighborhood, and his daughter has been injured in what police suspect was drug related.

Police said the 34-year-old man and his 11-year-old daughter were getting out of their car Saturday night when a gunman hiding in tall weeds in the front yard of an abandoned house shot him.

The gunman fired repeatedly as the man ran.

Police said the girl suffered an injury to one of her knees.

Police Lt. Robert Mannix told the Dayton Daily News the man refused to answer questions after he was wounded. He later died at Miami Valley Hospital.

The lieutenant said the man had been shot at the same location two weeks ago.
