4 injured in crash on I-80 near Belmont

Four people received injuries when the car they were in hit a guardrail and a cement wall on Interstate 80.

The crash, east of the Belmont Avenue exit, occurred at 4:13 a.m. Monday. The Ohio State Highway Patrol closed that section of I-80 westbound for about an hour because of the accident.

The patrol is investigating the single-car accident.

The car, a 2003 Honda Accord, was traveling west on I-80 when it went off the left side of the road, hitting a guardrail, according to a report from the highway patrol. The vehicle then traveled across the westbound lanes, hit a cement wall of a bridge. The car ended up in the right lane of I-80 west.

The driver, Swati Rawat, 27, of Detroit, and his three passengers were taken to the St. Elizabeth Health Center.

The patrol report states no one involved in the crash sustained life-threatening injuries.

The others who were in the car are Manish Khandelwal, 30, of Detroit; Urmilla Rawat, 55, of India; and Ganesh Rawat, 55, of India.
