The Youngstown Playhouse has kicked off its 2010-11 season subscription drive with a goal of 1,500 subscriptions for the upcoming season.

“We have a lineup of 11 shows which, in addition to our Main Stage season, includes the new Griffith-Adler Actors Series featuring smaller shows with adult content,” said Mary Ruth Lynn, executive director of the Playhouse. “This series of shows will offer the type of theater that the former Actors Arena used to produce.”

Heading up the season campaign is Playhouse volunteer Lynne Hamley who said 20 percent of the subscription goal has already been reached.

The Playhouse will open the Main Stage season on Sept. 10 with the musical “Chicago,” and open the Griffith-Adler Actors Series with “My First Time.” Other productions scheduled include “Oliver,” “Macbeth,” “Inspecting Carol,” “Of Mice and Men” and “Dixie Swim Club.” The Griffith-Adler Actors Series will feature “That Championship Season,” “Pillowman,” “Dead Man’s Cell Phone” and “God of Carnage.”

Season subscriptions are $75 for the 6-Show Main Stage package, and $60 for the 5-Show Griffith-Adler Series. Prices are lower for seniors and students. Call the box office at 330-788-8739. For more information, or to download an order form, go to theyoungstownplayhouse.com.
