Recycle bins moved to SNPJ Rec Center
Special to The Vindicator
NEW CASTLE, Pa.
Residents in the southwest part of Lawrence County will soon have a place to take their recyclables.
Lawrence County commissioners announced this week that two or three recycling bins will be moved next month from Shenango Township to the SNPJ Recreation Center at 270 Martin Road, Enon Valley.
County Clerk/Administrator Jim Gagliano said that until now, the nearest deposit site for residents of the Enon Valley area was one on Reed Road in North Beaver Township, several miles away. The bins had been at the Shenango Township Municipal Building, but officials there no longer want them because of problems with policing them.
Commissioners also said they received word that the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development has awarded a $30,000 grant toward the ongoing restoration of the Volant Mill and Dam in Volant.
Leo Carlin of New Castle was re-appointed to the Lawrence County Airport Authority until May 31, 2015. Vince Fuleno of New Castle was appointed to the Lawrence County Redevelopment Authority until Jan. 1, 2014, and Tony Celli, Ellwood City was appointed to the Lawrence County Municipal Authority, until Jan. 1, 2014.
