East Side shooting leaves person in critical condition

Police are investigating the shooting of two people in a car at the corner of Albert Street and Hubbard Court on the East Side on Friday evening that left one of the victims in critical condition.

The two people drove themselves to St. Elizabeth Health Center after they were shot, arriving about 10:06 p.m.

The more seriously injured of the two victims was shot in the neck, said Lt. Doug Bobovnik, night-shift commander at the Youngstown Police Department.

The other victim was shot in the arm, but the bullet traveled to the victim’s stomach, he said.

The crime lab and detectives were called out to investigate.

No information was available late Friday as to other circumstances surrounding the incident.
