YMCA offering camps for children


The D.D. & Velma Davis Family YMCA is helping parents keep kids entertained and active this summer with several summer camps to choose from.

The YMCA is offering “Camp Curiosity,” an art and science-based enrichment camp, for children ages 6 to 10. This camp will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Weekly rates are $35 for members and $50 for nonmembers.

The littlest of campers can get in on the fun at “Camp Neehi.” Neehi is geared for preschool campers ages 3 to 5 and will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for the three-day program and Tuesdays and Thursdays for the two-day program. The cost is $35 for members and $50 for nonmembers for the three-day camp. The cost is $25 for members and $40 for nonmembers for the two-day camp. All 3-year-old campers must be potty trained. Camp begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at noon.

“Curiosity” and “Neehi” programs begin June 14 and run through Aug. 20.

In addition to these specialty camps, traditional “Day Camp” is offered for children ages 6 to 13. Camp is held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended hours available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The weekly fee is $110 for members and $138 for nonmembers.

A one time registration fee of $25 per child applies. A second child discount and extended hours and daily rates are also available.
