Lanai Lounge shuts out Nicolinni in hockey
The Ice Zone’s spring men’s hockey teams hit the ice May 17.
Games results included Lanai Lounge getting a 6-0 win over Nicolinni, Giant Eagle beating Wade Robinson 9-3 and Lannigan’s Irish Pub defeating Gold Team 4-2. The league’s games are 7 p.m. every Monday at the Ice Zone.
Wildcats and Curves go head to head May 19
The ABC Wildcats of the Boardman Community Baseball league faced a very tough Curves team May 19 in the girls T-ball division.
The Wildcats’ defense was superb, led by Samantha Aey, Sarah Queen, Marlee Catanzarite and Brianna Valetini.
Anna Shevock led the offense by going 3-for-4 and driving in three runs.
In a second-inning rally, Gianna Pinciaro, Hannah Hagerty both singled. Ella Catanzarite and Alexia Spangler each contributed base hits and scored.
ABC girls T-ball team take on rival May 15
The girls from ABC played longtime rival Janiking May 15.
Ella Catanzarite paced the offense with four hits and an RBI. Hannah Hagerty scored three runs.
Sarah Queen drove in two runs with a pair of singles and scored a run.
Defensively, third baseman Samantha Aey was solid, recording all three outs unassisted in the fourth inning.
“The girls did a fabulous job today hitting, fielding and working as a team,” said ABC manager Sandy Queen. “They all worked really hard out there. I’m very proud of everyone.”
Mushball kicks off season
ABC Wildcats, of the Boardman Community Baseball league, began Mushball division play May 14 against Aarons.
Pitcher Anna Shevock and first baseman Gianna Pinciaro led the defensive effort.
Marlee Catanzarite led the ABC offense by going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Brianna Valenti scored a run and Alexia Spangler scored three times.
