Poland Memorial Day parade needs you


The Sons of the American Legion Mahoning Valley Squadron Post 15 will host its 38th annual Parade and Memorial Ceremonies Monday.

The parade will begin at the corner of Lee Street and Cortland Street at 10 a.m. and will feature past Commander of Post 15 Stanley Clingerman as Grand Marshal. The Main Street Bridge Memorial Service for those lost at sea will begin at 10:15 a.m., followed by a Memorial Service in Riverside Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

The speaker of the day will be Poland Local Schools Superintendent Robert Zorn. Chaplain of the day will be Pastor Julianne D. Smith from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

Children interested in participating in the parade can decorate their bikes in red, white and blue and meet at Baird Mitchell Field no later than 9:45 a.m. Convertible owners are encouraged to participate and will drive veterans and other dignitaries along the one-mile parade route. Drivers should plan on arriving at Post 15, 35 Cortland Street, no later than 9 a.m.
