PMS track teams excel at county meet

Neighbors | Submitted.Nick Rizzo, a member of Poland Middle School's track and field team, won first place in the discus at the Mahoning County Middle School Track and Field Championships. .Rizzo threw 135-10 to demolish the competition. Second place threw 115-2.

The Poland Bulldogs made a successful showing at the Mahoning County Middle School Track and Field Championships.

Nick Rizzo placed first in the discus with a throw of 135-10. Aleah Hughes earned first place in the high jump with 4-8 and Nicolette Kreatsoulas placed first in the shot put with 35-1/4 to set the record for the 6-pound shot.

The boys placed second in Division I of the county meet, while the girls placed third.

The other competitors for the boys that helped propel the team to second place included Nick Bilas, who placed second in the shot put. Rizzo placed third in the shot put as well.

Marlon Ramirez took second in the long jump, while Zach Lamping took fourth.

Ross Gould earned fifth place in the high jump. For the 110 hurdles, Steven Andrews won second place, while Bryan Partika took fourth. In the 100 meter dash, Marlon Ramirez took sixth.

Zach Prizant placed third and Matt Slavin placed fifth in the 1600 run.

In the 400 dash, Aaron King took fourth, while Art Duran came in sixth.

The 4x200 relay team of Partika, Gould, Anthony Coonfare and Alex Ankerman earned fourth place.

Andrews took second in the 200 hurdles and Partika placed third.

In the 800 run, Prizant came in third. Ankerman placed sixth in the 200-meter dash.

Prizant, Duran, Slaven and King took second in the 4x400 relay.

For the girls, Kreatsoulas took fourth in the discus, while Phoebe Bush placed sixth. Hughes placed second in the long jump.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Montana Gessler placed third, while Theodora Constantine took fifth place.

Carli Sebest took third place in the 1600 run and Libby Rubesa was fifth.

In the 4x100 relay, Gessler, Kayla Thompson, Madison Walkama and Melinda Hannon earned fifth place.

Hannon took fourth in the 400 dash. In the 4x200 relay, Marissa Chiaro, Macy Diaz, Thompson and Walkama took sixth. Gessler earned fifth in the 200 hurdles.

Emily Eckman took fifth in the 800 run with Sebest placing fifth.

Emily Marsico took fifth in the 200 dash and the relay team of Krista Brooker, Ellie Rogenski, Rubesa and Hannon took third in the 4x400 relay.
