Ohio man gets prison term in case musician Kid Rock noticed
CINCINNATI (AP) — A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for robbing and beating a Cincinnati pizza delivery man whose case drew the attention of musician Kid Rock.
Judge Robert Winkler of Hamilton County Common Pleas Court this week gave Steven Shields the maximum sentence for felonious assault and aggravated robbery.
Shields had ordered three pizzas last July, then broke delivery man Harry Colyer’s nose and cheekbones with a board. Shields and two juveniles took $8 and the pizzas.
Kid Rock read about Colyer’s injuries while in Cincinnati for a concert and sent him a $1,500 check.
Shields had rejected a plea deal for a 12-year sentence before his conviction by a jury.
