St. Elizabeth hosted a mandatory nutrition workshop for YMCA Community Cup participants May 19 in the Finnegan Auditorium. The workshop was held specifically for HMHP participants who are working toward winning the cup.

YMCA’s Community Cup program is a weight loss competition where teams weigh in each week for a 16-week period. The competition began the week of May 10 and will conclude at the end of August.

The workshop, HMHP Melt-Down, featured registered dieticians Bridget Lackey and Carol Zabel who discussed the food pyramid and the importance of keeping a food diary.

Adrian Anderson, HMHP Community Cup captain, wanted her team to understand how healthy eating can lead to a healthier lifestyle. She organized a workshop for her team members to attend to give them the tools needed for the team to be successful in their pursuit of the cup.

“The workshop was intended to give them tips to eat right, show them how to look at nutrition labels and eating healthy in general,” she said.
