Thanks to a recent class project, fourth-grade students in Sharyn DiMuzio’s Dobbins Elementary School class learned some lasting lessons about giving to those less fortunate than themselves.

Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley is the beneficiary of the students’ hard work. The students from DiMuzio’s fourth-grade class presented Rescue Mission officials with a check for $300 May 18.

For DiMuzio, this was her eighth year leading the project. She began with second-graders at Dobbins. As a “floating” teacher, she moved to McKinley Elementary and continued the project with many of the same students as they moved up through the grades. Since the project began, over $6,000 has been raised for The Rescue Mission by Poland elementary students.
