POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Girard and Liberty:

HUBBARD

May 22

Theft: Cynthia C. Stier, no information provided, was taken into custody after a shoplifting situation at Devine’s Shop ‘n’ Save, 529 N. Main St.

May 23

Assault: Officers got a call about several people screaming at one another in the 400 block of West Liberty Street and then requested an ambulance for someone who had been assaulted.

Arrest: Police picked up Kalea Flores, no city or age listed, at the Portage County jail. She was wanted by Hubbard authorities on charges of assault and obstructing official business.

Menacing: A township woman reported an intoxicated tenant threatened her.

May 24

Fraud: A Jacobs Road man found out his credit-card number was used to make an unauthorized online purchase.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 100 block of Youngstown-Hubbard Road sustained damage.

May 25

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone tried to enter a garage in the 1100 block of Waugh Drive, damaging a door.

Theft: A woman reported her son’s cell phone stolen in the 200 block of Hall Avenue.

Arrest: Police were to pick up Raul Magallon, no information given, at Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on a warrant from Girard Municipal Court accusing him of failing to appear for a violation-of-probation hearing.

Aggravated menacing: A man at a North Main Street business reported another man called and threatened to shoot the his son.

GIRARD

May 23

Theft: Miscellaneous clothing and infant supplies were stolen from a home in the 30 block of Robinwood Drive.

Criminal mischief: A North Elruth Avenue man found out someone had struck and tossed eggs at his vehicle.

May 24

Fraud: A Villa Place man noticed an unauthorized $34 charge to his debit card.

Theft: An employee with Stephanie Leigh, 920 N. State St., reported a $50 hanging basket stolen.

Domestic violence: Bobbi L. Oehler, 510 N. Ward Ave., was charged after her husband alleged she had struck him as he tried to sleep.

May 25

Theft: A Mosier Road man reported the theft of a .357-caliber firearm from his home.

Theft: A woman on Smithsonian Street found out her stolen debit card had been used to make an unauthorized $56 purchase.

Menacing: A Hazel Street male said he received a call warning that he would be killed.

May 26

Breaking and entering: Took place at a residence in the 200 block of Illinois Avenue, from which a digital camera, a tool set, five DVDs and a DVD set were stolen.

LIBERTY

May 22

Assault: A woman told police a Hubbard boy, 17, came to her Tibbetts Wick Road home and pushed and punched her when she asked him to leave. She also said the teen grabbed her neck and pushed her into a railing.

Theft: A wheel and a jack were removed from a vehicle in the 3800 block of Belmont Avenue.

Criminal damaging: A door frame and three window screens were damaged at a vacant residence in the 1600 block of Tibbetts Wick Road.

Arrest: Tomika S. Tucker, 27, of 20 E. Boston Ave., Youngstown, was booked at the Mahoning County jail on a warrant from Liberty.

May 23

Arrest: North Jackson police handed 46-year-old Gabriel Artis, 439 Forsythe Ave., Girard, to township authorities. Artis was wanted on a probation-violation count.

Theft: A 20-year-old Sharon, Pa., man was detained but not charged after a T-shirt had been stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Theft by deception: Two men fraudulently returned merchandise to Walmart, scamming the store of $186.

Theft: Vanessa A. Rivera, 22, of 446 Tenney Ave., Campbell, faced charges of theft, disorderly conduct and obstructing official business after $81 worth of women’s clothing was stolen from Walmart. Rivera also provided a false age and refused to cooperate with police, a report said.

May 24

Stolen property: Police responded to a Scott Lane residence, where a woman showed them a box containing a porcelain doll she thought had been taken in a recent burglary.

Theft: A man in his 40s in a blue shirt stole two hair trimmers from Sally Beauty Supply, 3551 Belmont Ave.

Theft: A woman’s purse was taken from a car in the 3600 block of Belmont Avenue.

Assault: A township woman told officers her son, 10, had been attacked on a school bus. A surveillance tape showed a 12-year-old boy punching and taking the victim to the floor and the driver intervening, a report said.

May 25

Breaking and entering: To a vacant home in the 6500 block of Belmont Avenue that had a rear door forced open. Stolen was about $2,500 worth of copper plumbing.

Theft: A man stole a $70 hair trimmer from Sally Beauty Supply.

Arrest: Authorities arrested 24-year-old Dawna S. Martin at her residence, 14 Tuttle Drive, Liberty, on several warrants, including a felony probation-violation charge.

Theft: A charge was pending against a 15-year-old girl after $75 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart.
