Amanda McBride, a Minnesota woman who gave birth behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Cobalt last week, has been given a variety of gifts from Chevrolet to celebrate her miraculous delivery.
McBride gave birth to an 8-pound baby boy, Joseph, while driving her red 2005 Cobalt to the hospital. The baby’s father, Joseph Phillips, unable to drive because of a medical condition, steered the car to safety while McBride delivered the baby in the driver’s sear.
Chevrolet will provide the family with a one-year supply of diapers, two child-safety seats, a stroller and other supplies such as bottles, formula and toys. The Cobalt is manufactured at the General Motors plant in Lordstown.

Around 3,613 people in the Mahoning Valley will lose their unemployment insurance and temporary COBRA health coverage if Congress does not extend these benefits by June 4, according to data released by U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, on Wednesday.
In Mahoning County, 1,510 people will lose unemployment benefits. In Trumbull County, 1,510 people will be affected, and in Columbiana County, 635 people will lose their benefits. If the benefits are not extended, more than 110,000 Ohioans will lose their benefits in June, up from around 14,500 in May, Brown said in a release.
