Second plant sale planned in park

If you missed last week’s Holborn Herb Growers Guild’s plant sale, members are having another sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Boardman Township Park behind the Georgeanna Parker Activity Center.

Culinary and decorative herbs, annuals, perennials and everlastings will be sold.

Author to sign newly released book

Andrew Caldwell, author of the newly released book, “Their Last Suppers,” will sign copies of the book today from noon to 4 p.m. at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 381 Boardman-Poland Road, and from 5 to 10 p.m. at Michael Alberini’s Restaurant, 1140 Boardman-Poland Road.

Caldwell’s book gives readers “gastronomically inspired” biographical accounts of more than 20 legendary personalities, including Elvis Presley, Abraham Lincoln, General Custer, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe.

Date rescheduled for Car-Bike Cruise In

MERCER, PA.

A Car-Bike Cruise In and Antique Appraisal will be from 1 to 4 p.m. June 5 at McCandless Ford, 8416 Sharon-Mercer Road, Mercer. This event was rescheduled from May 22 due to weather.

There will be a 50/50 drawing, Chinese auction, raffle, music and food. Appraisal of antiques will be by Susan Webb, an experienced antiques dealer. Admission is free, but appraisals will be three items for $5.

All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society’s 24-hour Relay for Life at Mercer High School, which will be at 9 a.m. June 19.
