Pa. State Police chase car going wrong way on turnpike

ROCHESTER, Pa. (AP) — A motorist driving the wrong-way on the Pennsylvania Turnpike has crashed after being chased by state police.

The motorist was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of the turnpike this morning north of Pittsburgh.

State police say there are at least four accidents on the turnpike in the area, including the one involving the wrong-way motorist. It’s not clear if that motorist was involved in the earlier crashes.

Officials couldn’t immediately say if anyone was injured. TV news footage showed a silver car hanging over the center median of the turnpike against a red truck and a van.

The accidents are causing delays on the turnpike.
