Road restrictions begin Tuesday on U.S. Route 422/Madison Avenue Expressway

YOUNGSTOWN — Beginning at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, traffic merging onto the Madison Avenue Expressway/U.S. Route 422 eastbound from Interstate 680 may experience brief periods of stopped traffic due to pavement work.

The work is expected to last until 9 a.m. Motorists are urged to exercise caution while merging.

The work is part of a $10.6 million project to replace guardrail and resurface Route 422 from state Route 193 to Belmont Avenue and on Route 193 from Crescent Street to Route 422.

The project also includes the rehabilitation of four bridges: Route 193 over Crescent, Route 193 over Rayen Avenue and the railroad and the two bridges at the Route 193/Route 422 interchange.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed in August 2011.
