Health and Wellness Fair 2010, sponsored by Managed Care Enrollment Center and Stepping Into the Future Inc., will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at 2905 Glenwood Ave. Everyone is welcome. Memorial Day Services will be at Girard City Cemetery starting at 11 a.m. next Monday. Girard High School Class Presidents Andrew Anthony, Courtney Keller, Bryan Dockerty and Sophia Martini each will read a biography of a deceased veteran from World War I, World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Class valedictorians Alisa Cario and Janette Gross will recite the Gettysburg Address. The high school band will play “The Star Spangled Banner” and taps. Scouts of Troop 40 will raise the flag. Leslie Kroc will play “Amazing Grace” on the bagpipes, and the Girard Veterans Council will fire a rifle salute. The services are sponsored by VFW Post 419, American Legion Post 235 and Army Navy Garrison 422. Anyone participating should be at the cemetery by 10:30 a.m.

For this year’s Memorial Day Parade and memorial ceremonies, Sons of the American Legion Mahoning Valley Squadron 15 is asking all kids to decorate their bikes in red, white and blue and ride them in the parade. Bicyclists should get in line at Baird Mitchell Field no later than 9:45 a.m. next Monday. Squadron 15 also is asking that anyone owning a convertible who is interested in participating in the parade to call 330-757-8722. Convertibles will be used to drive veterans and other dignitaries along the one-mile parade route. Convertible owners planning to participate should arrive at Post 15 no later than 9 a.m.
Free adult cats

The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County is giving away adult cats over 3 years old for free. June is Adopt-A-Cat Month, and the league offices at 545 Brunstetter SW are open from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Call 330-394-4122.
