What’s on tap at the annual Mercer Memorial Day 500.
8:50 a.m.: 5K Freedom Fun Run. Registration at 8 a.m. at Venango and Pitt, one block north of the Mercer County Court House. All proceeds are donated to the Kendyll Marie Morgan Research Foundation For Angelman’s Syndrome, a neurogenetic disorder. All military, past and present, run for free. The cost is $20. 9 a.m.: Mass military induction ceremony.
9:30-11 a.m.: Military/student games/vendors, north side of the Mercer County Courthouse.
9:30-10:30 a.m.: Veterans reception, south side of the courthouse.
9:30-10:45 a.m.: Patriotic program, courthouse bandstand.
11 a.m.: Memorial Day parade. Features 6 bands, begins at east side of the courthouse. Bands are from Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Noon: Memorial salute to the dead. Concludes with four skydivers from SkyDive USA landing at the south end of the cemetery.
