A highlight of the May 10 meeting of the Mahoning Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was the presentation of 50-year certificates to Helen Boone, JoAnn Cook, Joyce Haydu and Irene Houk and a 60-year award to Margaret Meikle.

Guests were welcomed to the meeting at A La Cart Catering by Rosa Dalbec, and Ileene Rozich spoke on early American history and the origination of Memorial Day.

On April 29 the organization gave eight American flags to new citizens at the Mahoning County Courthouse and a D.A.R. History Medal to Brock Burkhart, an R.O.T.C. student at Youngstown State University.
